Adam Medill

April 18, 1916 — August 3, 2013

Berquist Adam Medill In the early hours of July 23, 2013 in Sandy, Utah, Berquist Adam Medill, 97, peacefully passed from this life to be greeted by loved ones on the other side. Adam was born on April 18, 1916 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Adam Thomas Medill and Wilda Amolia Berquist. Adam Thomas was an electrician for the Union Pacific Coal Company, but passed away in 1918 from injuries suffered in an accident at the #8 mine. It took a few years but Wilda found a special man, James Pryde who wanted to share her family. James and Wilda added two beautiful sisters to Adam's life, Wanda and two years later, Betty. Adam was so excited to have two sisters in his life to love and take care of. Adam began working odd jobs when he was young to pay for his violin lessons. He found regular employment as an usher at the Grand Theater when he was fourteen. He went to work for the Union Pacific Coal Company after graduating from Rock Springs High School. Adam was injured in an accident while working at the tipple and was consequently reassigned to the blacksmith shop where he learned inventory and accounting skills he would apply as he took his career into the growing auto parts industry. In 1939 Adam and Wanda Mae Carter were married. They enjoyed a wonderful life together and shortly added a daughter, April to their family. Adam continued to work for the UP as a mine clerk and purchasing agent, and then went to work for his Uncle Bill Medill at the Auto Parts Store. Later he went to work at Wyoming Automotive, loving working with cars, parts and customers. Wanda had heart trouble that plagued her for most of her life and finally took her life in August 2, 1960. In 1961 Adam married Sheron Lee Beveridge. They soon welcomed two daughters to their family, Nyla Lee and Wendy Mae. In 1962 Adam left his job as manager of Wyoming Automotive and started his own auto parts store, Adam's Auto Supply. Adam enjoyed many successful years in the parts business, meeting and making friends with all who came into the store. He generously shared his success with others and gave back to the community by working with the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce. Adam retired in 1980 to enjoy golf, boating, bowling and playing cards. Adam was able to live a very healthy, rich and eventful life. Up until May he was bowling on two league teams. He lived all of his life in Rock Springs, except for the last 12 years that he lived with daughter Nyla in Sandy, Utah. Survivors include by his daughters, April Lund (Ron) of Rawlins, Wyoming, Nyla Miller (Shayne) of Sandy, Utah, and Wendy Suhr of Rock Springs; sisters, Wanda Decora (Andy) of Laramie, and Betty Hadsell (Frank) of Golden, Colorado; cousin Lavanetta Waters of Rock Springs; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Rock Springs LDS Stake Center, 2055 Edgar St., Rock Springs. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs and also Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will take place at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery, Rock Springs.
