Amos Jackson Rock Springs - Amos Jackson, 85, of Rock Springs died Monday, August 9, 2010 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City after a lengthy illness. He was born July, 20, 1925 in Dumas, Arkansas, the son of Jessie and Rebecca Dillon Jackson. . He married Kathryn Louise Sweets on November 3, 1947 in Green River. He was employed in the mines at #8 and Winton for 18 years. He also worked for John Bunning Transfer Co. as a truck driver for 33 years until his retirement in 1989. Amos was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he held the position as Deacon. His interests included fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Kathryn Jackson of Rock Springs; son, Ronald L. Jackson and wife Pam of Rock Springs; daughters Edith Jackson- Norris, and Carolyn K. Jackson both of Denver; grandchildren, Pamela Manuel and Brad Elliott both of Denver, Cory L. Jackson and wife Jennifer of Lake Elsinore, California, Ty Jackson and Maggie of Henderson, Nevada, and Brandon K. Jackson of Marietta, Georgia; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Rebecca Jackson, 4 brothers, 1 sister, 1 daughter Rebecca Marie Jackson, 2 sons, Gary Eugene and Amos Jr. Jackson , and 1 grandson, Justin Jackson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the New Hope Baptist Church, 513 G Street, Rock Springs. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Interment will take place in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, North Rock Springs.
