Bettye Jean Calhoun

Bettye J. Calhoun Rock Springs - Bettye J. Calhoun, 87, of Rock Springs died September 22, 2013 at Deseret Health & Rehabilitation after being ill for several years. She had been a longtime resident of Rock Springs. She was born January 22, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Robert and Edna Burton Sweets. She married Milton Calhoun Sr. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her interests prior to failing health were sewing and dancing. Her other interests were reading, working crossword puzzles and word search puzzles. She is survived by her sisters Kathryn Jackson and Judy Sweets both of Rock Springs, Martha Shackleford of Little Elm, Texas; brothers Jackie Sweets and wife Barbara of Rock Springs and Jerry Sweets of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brother-in-law John Crouch of Rock Springs; daughter-in-law Nona Sweets of Cheyenne, Wyoming; stepson Milton Calhoun Jr. of Rock Springs; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Milton Calhoun Sr.; parents, Robert and Edna Sweets; son Larry D. Sweets; grandmother Carrie Burton; sisters Geraldine Tullock, Margaret Washington, and Patricia Crouch; brothers Robert and Clarence Sweets; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. A viewing will take place 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Cremation will follow at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Friends and family are invited to attend a luncheon following the services at The Inn, 2518 Foothill Blvd, Rock Springs. Inurnment will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Rock Springs.
