Billy C. Newton Rock Springs - Billy C. Newton, 82, of Rock Springs died Saturday, February 2, 2008 at his home after a sudden illness. He was born November 1, 1925 in Tahoka, Texas, the son of Willie E. Newton and Clara C. Poston Newton. Billy married Frances Johnson on December 7, 1947 in Capulin, New Mexico. He had been employed with Questar Gas until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the NRA and the Sons of the Republic of Texas. His interests included hunting, fishing, leather-working, and trap shooting. Survivors include his wife Frances of Rock Springs; one son Darryl Newton of Rock Springs; two daughters, Brenda Smith and husband Bill of Rock Springs, Shanna Gamper and husband Joe of Reliance; one brother, Glenn Newton and wife Jo of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren, Casey Smith and wife Kim of Tifton, Georgia, and Spring Bertagnolli and husband Bill of Kemmerer, Dylan Torres of Reliance; three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Beau, and Karlee Bertagnolli of Kemmerer. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Newton, mother, Clara Lamance, step-father Frank Lamance, sister Lena Newton, and son Alan Newton. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. Inurnment will take place in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery, Rock Springs. Family request in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to a charity of your choice.
