Buehl "Bill" Smith

Buehl "Bill" L. Smith Rock Springs- Buehl "Bill" L. Smith, 72, a lifelong resident of Rock Springs, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born October 22, 1936 in Rock Springs, the son of Buehl Bronson Smith and Jeanette Lightner Smith. He attended schools in Rock Springs and Graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1954. He married Brenda Newton on December 3, 1977 in Rock Springs. He was employed for Ted's Construction and Birch Construction as a heavy equipment operator for 25 years until his retirement on October 1, 1997. Survivors include his wife Brenda Smith of Rock Springs; one son Casey Smith and wife Kimberly of Tifton, Geogia; two daughters, Spring Elton and husband Steve of Kemmerer, Lori Lund and husband Taylor of Elko, Nevada; one brother Jim E. Ditton of Rock Springs; family friend Bill Bertagnolli of Rock Springs; six grandchildren, Zachary, Beau, and Karlee Bertagnolli, Randy and Melissa Carter, and Hailee Lund; one aunt Lois Heinrich, several cousins; and nephews Don and Bob Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents Buehl B. Smith and Jeannette Lightner Smith Ditton, brother Donald Smith, stepfather James Ditton; and nephew James "Jimmy" B. Ditton. Cremation will take place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. At his request, no funeral services will be held.
