Carla Eugenia Menapace
Rock Springs- Carla Eugenia Menapace, 92, or Rock Springs died Tuesday September 22, 2009 at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born February 10, 1917 in Reliance, the daughter of Carlo and Giustina Rossi Piaia. She attended schools in Dines and Reliance graduating from Reliance High School with the class of 1935.
She married Charles Menapace on August 31, 1935 in Rock Springs. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1991.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community
Her interests included her family, needle work, and listening to audio books.
Survivors include her son, Charles R. Menapace and wife Jolene of Centennial, Colorado; daughters, Charlene Kershisnik and husband Jack of Rock Springs, and Patricia Phillips and husband Larry of Hastings, Nebraska; brother Dante Piaia and wife Ann of Conyers, Georgia; sister-in-law Maxine Jereb of Rock Springs; cousins Duce Piaia and wife MaryAnn and Wanda Perotto and husband Ed all of Rock Springs; 10 grandchildren, John Kershisnik and wife Carol, Fred Kershisnik and wife Cheri, Keith Kershisnik and wife Shellye, Alan Kershisnik and wife Lynn, Matthew Kershisnik and wife Ronda, Mark Phillips and wife Cathy, Ann Marie Jacobson and husband Tom, Michelle Phillips, Carl Menapace, and Gina Menapace; 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Carlo and Giustina Piaia, husband Charles Menapace, sisters Clara, Elda, and Dolores, brothers Carlo and Roland Piaia, and grandson Max Kershisnik.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs.
Friends may call from noon until 8:00 p.m. Friday September 25, 2009 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs where a parish rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.
Interment will take place in the St. Joseph’s Section of the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
