Carol “Umma” Rae Norris
Green River - Carol “Umma” Rae Norris, 83, of Green River died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the home of her daughter after a lengthy illness.
She was born October 21, 1932 in Salt Lake City, the daughter of George Wilford Simpson and Lucille Pritchard Simpson. She attended schools in Salt Lake and graduated from East High School with the class of 1949.
She married Kieth Earl Norris February 7, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She had worked for School District #2 in the school lunch program for 16 years.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had served as Relief Society President, Primary President, Stake Young Womens’ President, and Temple Ordinance Worker at the Vernal Utah Temple.
Her family was her life. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her other interests were reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her husband Kieth Earl Norris of Green River; sons Kieth Earl Norris Jr. and wife Dianne of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Michael Ben Norris and wife Susan of Parker, Colorado; daughters Teri Lee Harmon and husband David, Maralee Toolson and husband Stewart, and Leslie Ann Kroupa and husband Dale all of Green River; grandchildren Sarah and Michael Hill, Siobhan and Brandon Pehrson, Joseph and Anne Norris, Brianne and Scott Fulton, Hannah, Larrissa and Blake Taylor, Stacia, Braden, Tara, Emma and Gunnar Norris, Brittney Toolson Johnson & Robert, Heidi Toolson Hall & Robert, Todd Toolson & Erin, Kesley Toolson Harris & Eli, Courtney Toolson, David II, Amy, Ryan, Jackie, Steven, Lindsey, Kieth, Katie, Mark & Whittney, Issac, Cameron, and Jared Harmon, Jacob and Adam Kroupa, Kristin & Mike Nilles, Katie & Allen Holcomb; 41 great-grandchildren; many cousins; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Lucille Simpson, and all her sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Green River LDS 1st & 3rd Ward Chapel, 1000 W 4th North, Green River. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment will take place in the Riverview Cemetery, Green River.
