Cassie Maez Green River - Cassie Maez, 88, of Green River died Wednesday July 6, 2011 at Castle Rock Convalescent Center after a lengthy illness. He was born September 8, 1922 in Mora, New Mexico, the son of Nieyes Maez and Barbarita Pais Maez. He married Clora Marie Cordova and she preceded him in death. He married Betty Joyce Siodle on January 13, 1978 in Evanston, Wyoming. He had been employed for Union Pacific Railroad retiring in 1989 after 46 years. He was a veteran in the US Army having served during World War II. He received the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Medal 03 using a rifle, American Theatre Service Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. Cassie was a member of the Golden Hour Senior Center in Green River and Union Pacific Railroad Ole Timers Club. He was also a member of St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Mora, New Mexico. His interest were his 1957 Ford, hunting, fishing and playing pool. Survivors include his wife Betty Maez of Green River; sons Casey L. Maez and wife Janet and Jason L. Maez and wife Angela all of Green River; daughters, Marilyn Martinez and Barbara Pacheco and husband Pat all of Rock Springs: stepdaughters Brenda Ashley and husband John, Diane Allen, and Julie Martinez and husband Rick all of Green River; stepsons, Larry West and wife Judy of Hampton, Arkansas, and Freddie West and wife Debbie of Banks, Arkansas; stepsister Cordie Trujillo of Salt Lake City; 32 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Clora Marie Maez, stepson Ronnie West, stepdaughter Betty Dean Ethridge, son-in-law Richard Martinez, sister Susie Flores and brother Pat Trujillo. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Monroe Avenue Baptist Church, 295 Monroe, Green River. Family will be receiving friends at 160 S 4th E, Green River, WY. In lieu of flowers, family request donations to be made to the Golden Hour Senior Center, 550 Uinta Dr., Green River WY 82935
