Charles Durfee

Charles Hatch Durfee Rock Springs - Charles Hatch Durfee, 55, of Rock Springs died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at his residence after a short battle with cancer. He was born January 29, 1953 in Powell, Wyoming, the son of Arden and Myra Durfee. He attended South Elementary School in Littleton and graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1971. He also attended Arapahoe Community College and received an associates degree. He married Valarie Neville in 1974 at Englewood, Colorado. They were later divorced. He married Colleen Hatch on June 28, 1996 in Littleton, Colorado. Charles was employed at Anadarko Petroleum in Rock Springs for over 30 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in his church callings. His interests were camping, fishing, hunting, playing games, racquet ball, chess, music, and loved life, family and friends. He gave the best bear hugs. He was the best listener and gave everyone genuine advice and wisdom. He loved all of his family and friends and his sense of humor even during his sickness still made everyone laugh. He was sensitive to the spirit and loved his Savior. He was solid, a rock - our rock. Survivors include his wife Colleen of Rock Springs; two grandchildren whom they are raising, Jessica and Jazmine Higgs; sons, Charles Durfee of Salt Lake City, Rock H. White and wife June of Nephi, Utah, Tex H. White and wife Alysia of Mapleton, Utah, and Monte H. White and wife Zoe of Pinedale; daughters, Misty Gomez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jenny Boyd of Salt Lake City, Renae Taylor of Rock Springs, Krystal Reed and husband Rusty of Odessa, Texas, Brooke White of Provo, Utah; one brother, Lloyd Durfee and wife Lynn of Berthoud, Colorado; one sister, Patty Jo Durfee of Rock Springs; grandchildren, Ahnika, Haydn and Mekhia White, Teya, Malyssa and Sierra Reed, Mishayla and Dallon White, Mya Taylor, and Jourdan Durfee, Baylee, Kanyon and Ryder White; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arden and Myra Durfee, daughter Breanna, and older brother Jeffrey. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the Rock Springs LDS Stake Center, 2055 Edgar, Rock Springs. Friends may call 7-9 p.m Friday October 10, 2008 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 in the Lovell Cemetery, Lovell, Wyoming.
