Clifford "Roy" Christen

Green River - Clifford "Roy" Christen, 70, of Green River, died Sunday, April 8, 2007 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County following a sudden illness. He was born December 14, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Clifford Melvin Abrahamson and Florance Hellen Benson Christen. He attended schools in Utah and received his degree at Utah Technical College. Roy served in the US Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam War. He married Kazuko "Kay" Christen on November 20, 1957 in Tokyo, Japan. Their marriage was solemnized in the Vernal LDS Temple on October 24, 2002. He was member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His interests were spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, the outdoors, and bowling. Survivors include his wife, Kay of Green River; son, Aaron Ryo Christen of Green River; daughter, Lona Kazuko Latorre and husband David of Green River; brothers, Glen Christen and wife Linda of Arizona, Donald Christen of Idaho, Tom Christen and wife Janet of South Carolina, Mike Christen and wife Rita of Utah, David Christen of Texas; sisters, Kathy Atwood and husband Cal of Utah, and Caroline Anderson and husband Junior of Utah; grandchildren, Stephanie Bird and fiancé Bob Burdett of Green River, Krisha Bird of Rock Springs, and Lane Biebinger of Kemmerer, Wyoming; great grandchildren, Thomas Bradshaw and Shaylee Twomey, both of Green River; one uncle, Fred Benson of Utah; several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Clifford LeRoy Christen Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Green River LDS Chapel, 1250 W. Teton, Green River, where friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2007 and one hour prior to services at the church.
