Clifford Leroy Renz
Rock Springs - Clifford Leroy Renz, 91, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs.
Clifford was born April 13, 1917 near Milburn, Nebraska to Raymond Renz and Mary Hartson. He was a graduate of Milburn High School with the class of 1936. Clifford joined the US Navy in 1939 where he was chief ship fitter. During his time in the Navy, Clifford was able to watch the flag raising at Iwo Jima. After leaving the Navy and working his own successful business of carpentry, Clifford received his bachelor’s degree in Trades and Industry which lead to 27 years of teaching school . It was during his teaching period that Clifford received his Masters degree from Colorado State University.
Clifford married Eloise Swan of Lusk, Wyoming on May 1, 1943 at the YMCA in Norfolk, Virginia
After retirement, Clifford was a volunteer for 25 years with the Reliance Fire Department for which he was honored for his many services and dedication. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and active with the Catholic Soup Kitchen in Rock Springs.
His interests included, spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, participating and watching competitive sports.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Eloise Renz of Rock Springs; four sons, Dennis Renz of Yosemite Village, California, Charles Renz and wife Valda of Rock Springs, Timothy Renz of Reliance, and Michael Renz of Casper; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Renz; two sisters, Helen Immesote and Shirley Reich, two brothers, Fred Renz and Wayne Renz, son, Clifford James Renz who lived 10 days.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Elks Lodge, 307 C St., Rock Springs. Reverend Lori Dvirnak Lundblad will officiate. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2008 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs and one hour prior to services at the lodge. Grave side military honors and interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in the Lusk Cemetery, Lusk, Wyoming.
