Clyde Heavin

Reliance – Clyde Norman Heavin, 74, of Reliance died Monday, November 14, 2005 at his home after a lengthy illness. Norm was born July 24, 1931 in Morrill, Nebraska the son of Joseph Clyde and Daisy Pearl Prideaux Heavin. He attended schools in Morrill, Nebraska and graduated from Morrill High School with the class of 1952. On July 3, 1959 he married Carole Jo Russell in Rapid City, South Dakota. Norm owned and operated Heavin Construction from 1974 to 1984. He was employed at Bridger Coal until his retirement on July 31, 1998. Norm served in the US Airforce during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Archie Hay Post 24. He was baptized and confirmed a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church on August 20, 1972. His interests included spending time with his family, music, hunting, fishing, and camping, and teaching his grandchildren how to drive a stick shift.. He had a great interest in watching Rock Springs grow as a community. His interest in music included gospel, country western and even tolerance for rock and heavy metal supplied by his grandchildren. He played in several bands in Nebraska, South Dakota, and Rock Springs. After his retirement and towards the end of his illness, Norm and his wife had interest in watching the wild horse herd which roamed north of his Reliance home. Survivors include his wife, Carole Heavin of Reliance; two sons, Todd N. Heavin, and Shane A. Heavin and wife Emmy all of Reliance; two daughters, Jody L. James and husband Tom of Green River, and Noreen M. Hove and husband Mike of Rock Springs; and eight grandchildren, Jason Apostolope, Cassie Watson, Reider James, Chance James, Cole Heavin, Shaylyn Heavin, Flynt Heavin, and Jo Heavin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Daisy Heavin; sister, Mary Lou Brunz; niece, Deanna Hewitt, and great niece Crissy Hewitt. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs where friends may call 6-9 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2005. Interment with Military honors will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Rock Springs.
