Clyde Stephens Green River - Clyde Louis Stephens, 75, of Green River died Monday, August 15, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after a short illness. He was born October 14, 1935 in Florence, Colorado, the son of James C. Stephens and Mary Verdier Assig Stephens. He married Geraldine Ruth Paxton on June 25, 1961 in Evanston. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2003. He attended schools in Florence and Rawlins and graduated from Rawlins High School with the class of 1953. He also attended Western Wyoming Community College. He was a US Veteran having served in Iceland for the US Army. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, 33rd Degree, Green River Eagles, and the Rawlins Elks. He was also a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Green River. His interests were singing base, playing the keyboard and the trombone. Survivors include sons Bill Stephens and wife Sue of Douglassville, Pennsylvania, and James C. “Chet” Stephens of West Palm Beach, Florida; sister Mary Belle Lambertsen and husband Robert of Rawlins; grandchildren Josh and Beck Bircher; nephew Robert N. Lambertsen. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Geraldine, and niece Lauren Lambertsen. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2011 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 320 Mansface St., Green River. Inurnment will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 in the Rawlins Municipal Cemetery.
