Cornelia “Connie” Soderlund Rock Springs - Cornelia “Connie” Soderlund, 87 of Rock Springs died of cancer Tuesday morning July, 7, 2009 at her home. She was born July 20, 1921 in Rock Springs, the daughter of Nick and Cecelia Duzik. She attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1939. She attended the University of Wyoming until the start of World War II. At that time she went to work in her father’s business, Duzik Food Center. Connie married Edwin J. “Sody” Soderlund on December 29, 1946. They raised four children. She was a member of Our Lady Of Sorrows Parish and belonged to St. Cecelia’s Circle and Apostles of Goodwill. Her favorite interest included bridge and participating in Duplicate Bridge and Daughters of the Nile. Her other interests were golf, fishing, boating, traveling, and reading. She is survived by her husband Sody, of Rock Springs; daughter Nancy Nordstrom and husband Carl of Rock Springs; sons John Soderlund of Englewood, Colorado, Jim Soderlund and wife Vickie of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jay Soderlund of Grand Junction, Colorado; granddaughter Alexis Anderson and husband Sgt. Joe Anderson U.S. Marine Corp of McClean,Virginia; four grandsons, Christopher Soderlund of Rock Springs, Capt. Matthew Soderlund U.S. Air Force of Great Falls, Montana, Kyle Soderlund of Greeley, Colorado, and Eric Soderlund of Englewood, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dr. John Duzik, George Duzik and Paul Duzik. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 10, 2009 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 116 Broadway, Rock Springs. The Reverend Carl Beavers will officiate. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs.
