Rock Springs-Darrel Alex Wagner, 91, Rock Springs, died May 24, 2004 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after a brief illness. He had been a resident of Rock Springs since 1949.
He was born February 8, 1913 in Clearfield, South Dakota, the son of Alexander and Katherine Frihauf Wagner. Darrel attended schools in Clearfield. He married Rose A. Roybal on November 12, 1968 in Grand Junction, Colorado. Darrel had been employed as a road construction contractor for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a POW in Germany.
He was a member of the Rock Springs Shriners and Jesters Club, Massonic Lodge in Rock Springs and Rawlins, Eagles, Scottish Rites. He was also a life member of the Elks and Disabled Veterans of America. Darrel enjoyed gardening, card playing, especially poker, working on his home, family and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Rose of Rock Springs; sons, Rodger Wagner and wife Teresa of Frannie Wyoming, Richard Wagner and wife Tamie of Basin, Wyoming, and John Wagner and wife Nancy of Dana Point, California; daughters, Marlene Cathro and husband Bob of Canyon Lake, California and Judy Wagner of San Francisco, California; one brother, Paul Wagner of Lexington, Nebraska; two sisters, Leah Cronin of Aurora, Illinois, and Loraine Vosika of Rock Springs; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eight sisters and one brother.
Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date.
