Darren Matthew Olson, 34, of Rock Springs, WY, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 24, 2021.
Darren was born on April 25, 1987 to Cheryl Lynn Olson and Russell Clayton in Madison, WI.
A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Darren graduated from Independence High
School with the class of 2005. He worked as a cook in several local restaurants during his life.
Darren enjoyed spending time with his friends and family the most. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He was always the source of so much laughter any where he was. Those that truly knew “D”, knew he had the biggest heart and a giver soul no matter what he may have been going through. He was always willing to listen, to give and to love.
Darren was preceded in death by his mother Cheryl Lynn Olson, maternal grandparents, his cousin Anthony “Swing” Youngblood, and Lisa Gonzales, the mother of their twin sons.
He is survived by his father Russell Clayton & (LaDonna Combs) of Madison, WI; two sons Matthew and Anthony Olson of Rock Springs; his grandmother Mary Moore of Chicago, IL; sisters Natasha Clayton-McLeod (Ian McLeod) of Florissant, CO, Alicia Robinson of Madison, WI, Alexis Olson Grand Junction, Laura Ambrose and Kerrissa Callas both from Rock Springs; brothers Cyrus Sweets, Jordan Halstead, Cameron Colley, Ian Garcia, Lonnie Williams all of Rock Springs, Alonzo Robinson of Madison, WI, and Corey Clayton, Cornelius Clayton both of St. Louis MO; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The amount of people Darren regarded as a brother, sister, mother, aunt or uncle is practically immeasurable. A heart as big as Darren’s understood that family is more than blood, family is who shows you love.
The family is eternally grateful for the outpouring of support shown by this community. It is plain to see how well loved he was.
