David Richard Taylor
Rock Springs – David Richard Taylor, 35, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at his residence in Anchorage, Alaska. He was born Nov, 4, 1977, in Salt Lake City to David and Iris Taylor. He was raised in Green River and graduated from Green River High School in 1997. He married Katrin Preiss, who he met in high school. He enlisted in the Marines and served after graduation
After four years in the Marines, he transferred to the Air Force, when he retired as a staff sergeant in 2011. He earned an associate of applied science degree in aircraft maintenance management and a bachelor of science degree in professional aeronautics. He was working on his MBA at the University of Alaska. He worked as a trained jet engine mechanic.
His interest included current events, politics, being in the outdoors, telling jokes, driving all-terrain vehicles, fishing on Birch Lake, swimming, eating lunch with his son, Keith, traveling overseas and experiencing different cultures. His favorite places to visit included Edinburgh, Scotland, Luxemburg City and Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany
He is survived by his wife, Katrin of Zschepplin, Germany; son Keith of Zschepplin; parents, David and Gail Taylor of Rock Springs; sisters, Debbie and husband Travis Dever of Rock Springs, Lisa Taylor and fiance Miguel Belardo of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Karen and husband Kyle Knappenberger of Topeka, Kan.; brother, James Johnson of Rock Springs; nephews, Dylan Tolar and Michael Dever, both of Rock Springs, and Avery Knappenberger of Topeka; nieces, Madison Dever of Rock Springs And Abby Knappenberger of Topeka; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Iris Taylor; paternal grandparents, Donald Audrey Taylor; and maternal grandparents, Viola and Richard Julian.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the Mount of Olives Lutheran Church, 2916 Foothill Blvd., Rock Springs.
