Dee L. Slaughter

Dee L. Slaughter Green River - Dee L. Slaughter, 91, of Green River died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River after a lengthy illness. He was born March 8, 1921 in Hinkley, Utah, the son of Bob Slaughter and Fanny Losee Slaughter. The family moved to Sweetwater County soon after his birth. He married Elaine Hansen on June 8, 1946. She preceded him in death on 2006 after celebrating their 60th anniversary. His career path took him from the C.C. Corps, to the coal mines, to the Navy serving during WWII. He then became a saloon keeper along with his wife Elaine, was owner/operator of the Covered Wagon Night Club West of Green River. In 1962, he went to work for Stauffer Chemical Company until his retirement in 1982. His interests were hunting with his wife and sons, reading and keeping up on current affairs, everything about Wyoming, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his sons Brad Slaughter and wife Nancy, Robb Slaughter and wife Marriella; grandchildren Shannon Beveridge, Tara Turia, Brad Slaughter, Shane Stevenson, Kristy Spalding, Erin Curtis, Brett Stevenson, Sean Slaughter, and Megan Keil; numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Green River LDS 1st & 3rd Ward Chapel, 1000 W. 4th North, Green River. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs, and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment with military honors will take place at the Riverview Cemetery, Green River, Wyoming.
