Donald F. Davis Rock Springs - Donald F. Davis, 91, died March 6, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born July 27, 1920 in Canon City, Colorado, the son of Andrew and Mabel Davis. He married Alberta Pierce on January 19, 1974 in Buena Vista, Colorado. He was a Navy veteran and served in WW II in the Asiatic and Pacific Theatres. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Buena Vista, Colorado. In May of 2010, he was honored to be a participant in a trip to Washington D.C. with the Wyoming Honor Flight. He worked his entire career as a meat cutter with Safeway and Albertson’s. His interests were fishing, wood working, playing cribbage and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Alberta Davis of Rock Springs: daughter Merna Pierce-LaRivere and husband Mike of Denver, Colorado; son Marion Pierce and wife Sandra of Lyman, Wyoming; grandchildren Brenda Slater and husband Chris of Ogden, Utah, Michael Pierce and wife Felicia and Amy Franzen and husband Rick all of Rock Springs; great-grandchildren Matthew, Jason, Brandon, and Kyle; great-great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Wesly and Emberlynn. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Herman and Ralph. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. Inurnment with military honor will take place at the Veterans section of the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
