Dorothy M Gouger

Rock Springs - Dorothy M. Gouger, 87, of Rock Springs died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at her home in Rock Springs after a brief illness. She was born September 4, 1919 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Charles and Alvina Frenz Punch. She attended schools at the Immaculate Conception Parochial School and the Madison High School in Rochester and graduated with the class of 1938. Dorothy married John (Ken) Kenneth Gouger on August 4, 1945 and they lived in East Rochester, NY until his death in 1962. She was trained in nursing and spent many years at the Monroe County Health Department until her retirement in 1976. She lived in Albuquerque, NM from 1976 to 2000 where she spent her retirement traveling and collecting southwestern art and participating with her friends in senior citizen activities. In 2000, she moved to Rock Springs to spend her final years with her family. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Her interests were crossword puzzles, Jeopardy, anything educational, knitting, and her family. Survivors include her son Garry L. Gouger and wife Anita of Rock Springs; grandchildren, Lesley R. Gouger, Nicholas & Emily Ellis, Eric Ellis, Holly Ellis Brown and husband Scott; great grandchildren, Aubrie and Austin Ellis; nieces, Linda Ludwig and Cathy Mueller; nephew, Otto Mueller; several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Kenneth Gouger, sister, Hellen Hall, brother Edward Punch, nephew James Ludwig and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. The Rev. Killiam Muli will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon until 6:00 pm, January 10, 2007 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs, where a parish rosary well be recited at 5:00 p.m. Entombment will take place in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
