Elden Staley
Star Valley Ranch, WY - Elden Staley, 87, of Star Valley Ranch died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at his home after a brief illness. He had been a long time resident of Rock Springs prior to moving to Star Valley Ranch.
He was born May 5, 1928 in Upton, Utah, the son of Elmer Doris Staley and Margaret Matilda Overson Staley. He attended schools in Coalville, Utah and graduated from North Summit High School with the class of 1946.
He married Barbara Vernon September 12, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, Salt Lake City. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2014.
He had worked for Mountain Fuel (Questar) for 20 years. He owned and operated Taco Times for 30 years retiring in 2002.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
His interests were playing cribbage, golfing, fishing, following Utah Jazz and BYU sports, his home in Star Valley, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his sons Leland V. Staley and wife Denise, Richard Staley and wife Kathy all of Rock Springs; daughter Jeanene Pickett and husband Mark of Citrus Heights, California; brothers Neal Staley and wife Emma of Hagerman, Idaho, and Spencer Staley and wife Carolyn of St. George, Utah; sisters Karen Gigar and husband Jack of Parowan, Utah, Blanche Eisenhauer and husband Arthur of Anacortes, Washington, and Viola Birch and husband Rex of Evanston, Wyoming; grandchildren Cara Erickson and husband Chris of Green River, Brad Porter and wife Amber of Grand Junction, Colorado, Richard Porter and wife Maurgan of Grand Junction, Adam Pickett and wife Michele of Bethesda, Maryland, Jonathan Pickett of Los Angeles, California, Michael Pickett and wife Kelly of Austin, Texas, Jordan Pickett of Citrus Heights, California, Ryan Staley and wife Allison of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sheri Staley and partner Dave of McCall, Idaho, David Petrie and wife Nichole of Lakewood, Colorado, and Derek Petrie and wife Kaitlin of Littleton, Colorado; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Margaret Staley, daughter Claudia Lambson, brother Ray Staley, sisters June Taylor and Geraldine Schmitt.
A viewing will be held 5-7 pm Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Hoytsville LDS Chapel, Hoytsville, Utah, where a viewing will be held one hour prior to the services.
Interment will take place in the Hoytsville Cemetery, Hoytsville, Utah.
