Elisa Salas Gardea Green River - Elisa Salas Gardea, 91, of Green River, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River after a lengthy illness. She was born July 8, 1920 in La Soledad, Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Serveriano Salas and Magdalena Villa Salas. She married Guillermo Gardea in Guillermo Prieto, Durango, Mexico . He preceded her in death January 2, 1979. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Green River. Her interests were gardening, watching pro wrestling, playing the board game Aggravation, having her grandchildren come to her house and put pennies in her gumball machine, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her sons, Chavel Gardea of Green River, Jesse Gardea and wife Shirley of Fruita, Colorado, Augustine Gardea and wife Lorraine and Ramon Gardea and companion Victoria all of Green River; daughters, Carmen Trujillo, Tonia Martinez and husband Tito, Lucy Hernandez and husband Lupe, Connie Johnson and husband Benny all of Rock Springs, Mary Chavez and husband Robert and Letty Jewkes and husband Mike all of Green River; 26 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Guillermo Gardea, daughter-in-law Vickie Gardea, son-in-law Nester Trujillo, and all her brothers and sisters. Cremation will take place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 900 Hitching Post Dr., Green River. Rev. Tom Sheridan will officiate. A parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at the church.
