Eliza Peggy Dickson Eliza “Peggy” Dickson, 97, of Rock Springs died Monday, June 8, 2015 of natural causes. She was a resident of Green River for over 70 years, prior to moving to Rock Springs last year. She was born on July 23, 1917, in West Bountiful, Utah, the 10th child of George Parkin and Jesse Mann Parkin. She attended schools in a one room school house near Granger, Wyoming for 4 years and at the Forest Grade School and Jordan Junior High in Salt lake City, Utah. She graduated in 1935 from The Utah High School of Beauty Culture, also in Salt lake City, Utah. She married Wayne Bryson Dickson on March 4, 1938 in Salt lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 26, 1954. Wayne preceded her in death on October 23, 1997. Mrs. Dickson was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints where she served in various positions including Relief Society President, visiting teacher and sacrament meeting greeter. She was a homemaker and also worked outside the home at Joe Gosar's, Dell's and City Market. She was an Avon representative for many years. She was a charter member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneer in Sweetwater County, the Union Pacific Old Timers, a charter member of the Debonair Dance Group and the Squarenaders square dance group. Her interests included her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & great- great grandchildren, quilting, sewing clothes for herself and her family, baking, playing gin rummy and she was an author. In 1981 she published a historical memoir of her Parkin, Foulds, Mann & Busby family lines called "Precious Gems". Survivors include her four daughters, Lynne (Don) Hoffman of Woods Cross, Utah, Georgeen (Ron) Harris of Rock Springs, Ann Dickson and husband Jim Rainey of Devil's Tower, Wyoming and Evelana (John) Henderson of Rock Springs; sixteen grandchildren, Jalene (James) McCullough and Shawn (John) Barrett both of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Aaron (Sara) Hoffman of Broomfield, Colorado, Kari (Arley) Jarman of Woods Cross, Utah, Cole Harris of Casper, Wyoming, Becky (Reid) Miller of Langdon Canada, Jane (Allen) Ewoniuk of Castle Rock, Colorado, Tony (Karrie) Botello of Nederland, Texas, Ron (Tina) Botello of Cornfields, Arizona, Scott Botello of Warsaw, Missouri, Josh (Erin) Henderson and Eli (Stephanie) Henderson both of Afton, Wyoming, Patti Brown, Leslie (David) Taylor, Warren Blalock and Shanon (Rob) DeBernardi all of Rock Springs; 60 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Jay Dickson, a son-in-law, 6 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 grandsons and 1 great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Green River 1st & 3rd Ward Chapel, 1000 W 4th North, Green River. A viewing will be held 5-7 pm Friday at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs, and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the Church. Pallbearers will be her granddaughters Jae McCullough, Shawn Barrett, Kari Jarman, Leslie Taylor, Becky Miller, and Jane Ewoniuk. Honorary pallbearers will be Patti Brown, Sara Hoffman, Karrie Botello, Tina Botello, Erin Henderson, Shanon DeBernardi, and Stephanie Henderson. Interment will take place in the Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery, North Rock Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Hospice of Sweetwater County, 809 Thompson St # D, Rock Springs, WY 82901.
