Elizabeth Rose May
Rock Springs - Elizabeth Rose May, 80, a life long resident of Rock Springs died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the University Medical Center in Salt Lake City surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
She was born August 4, 1932 in Rock Springs the daughter of Andrew Joseph Bernard and Mary Rose Brelih Bernard. She was the seventh of eight children.
She attended schools in Rock Springs and graduate from Rock Springs High School. She married Robert L. May on May 23, 1952 in Salisbury, North Carolina. They later divorced. Together, they had seven children.
She worked for several Rock Springs businesses including the West Theater and Marguerite’s. Later, she worked in the bakeries of Safeway, Farmer Jack, and later City Market for several years until her retirement.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.
Her interests included cooking and baking, and spending time with friends, family, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her five sons, James May and wife Kathy, Robert May Jr., Andrew May, John May and Michael May, all of Rock Springs; one daughter, Margy Shepard and husband Lawrence of Reliance, WY; sisters, Jennie Kuseck of Rock Springs, Helen May of Lander, Wyoming, Margaret Bernard of Menominee, MI, and Theresa Fenske and husband Gene of Helena, Montana; grandchildren, Heather Clinton and husband TJ, Jennifer Wuolle and husband Jason, Angela and Christopher May, Carrie Halter and husband David, Andrew, Kevin, Kiera and Paul May, Christina and Steven Shepard, all of Rock Springs, James Kennedy of Williston, ND, Lisa Rauert of Green River, WY, Erin Castro of Killeen, TX, Lauren Shepard of Pocatello, ID, Tasha Franklin of Lecount, LA, Michael May of Georgetown, TX, and Brittany May of Midland, TX; twelve great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Mary Bernard, brother Andrew Bernard Jr., sister Mary Faigl, and daughter, Debra Lynn Davis, daughter-in-law, Jennifer Callahan May, sister-in-law Donna Armstrong, brother- in-laws Harvey Faigl, Henry “Bud” May, and Joe Kuseck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. A vigil service with rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the church. Rev. Arnel Raboy will officiate.
Inurnment will take place at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
