Adelmo "Elmer" Cordova
Rock Springs - Adelmo "Elmer" Cordova, 77, of Rock Springs was called by the Lord Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City surrounded by his loving families.
He was born July 5, 1936 in Taos, New Mexico, the son of Jose Amadeo Cordova and Maria Ophelia Chacon. He attended schools in Taos. He married Dorothy Drakulich Cordova in Green River and was married for 52 years. She preceded him in death August 26, 2012.
He was a member of the Catholic Church.
He had been employed by Superior Lumber Co., FMC, Pacific Lights, Bridger Coal, and Jackman Construction.
His interests were fishing and boating.
Survivors include his sister Frances Loera and family of Las Vegas, New Mexico; niece Ruby Vissarriagas and family of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Godson Gustavo Vissarriagas of Portales, New Mexico; stepchildren Rosalie Georgis of Rock Springs, Gloria Arguello of Denver, Shirley Mathiott and husband Mike of Rock Springs and Carolyn Cudney of Ogden, Utah; 11 grandchildren and10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; fishing buddy Gordie Johnson; and many loving special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Maria Cordova, wife Dorothy Cordova, stepson Eddie Garcia, sisters Ruth Vissarriagas, Lucy Parada, and brother Leo Cordova.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, A Street & Broadway, Rock Springs. Rev. Glen Szczechowski officiating.
Friends and family may call 6-8 pm Thursday December 5, 2013 with a vigil service and rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs.
Interment will take place in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery, Rock Springs.
