Elmer "EJ" Rountree

Elmer James “EJ” Rountree Rock Springs - Elmer James “EJ” Rountree, 94, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Mission at Castle Rock in Green River. He was born June 7, 1922 in Shamrock, Oklahoma, the son of James Arthur Rountree and Charlie Beatrice Henshaw Rountree. He was a veteran having served in the US Army Corp of Engineers during WWII. He served 4 major campaigns - Normandy, Northern France, the Battle of the Bulge and the Rhinelands. In 2009 he went on the Honor Flight to DC to visit the WWII Memorial. He married Anna Leep May 16, 1942 in Cookson, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death November 27, 2002. EJ work for Union Pacific Resources for over 20 years, retiring in the summer of 1987. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Rock Springs. He enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, and military history. Survivors include daughters Jimmie Welsh of Green River and Beverly Profaizer and husband Aldo of Rock Springs; brothers Bill and Kenneth Rountree of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; sister Charlene Yeargin of Tahlequah; grandchildren Michael and Stephanie Welsh of Rock Springs, Lisa and Jay Wentz of Casper, Karla and Steven Bena of Omaha, NE, Janelle and Andrew Rose of Cheyenne, Brad and Chrystal Profaizer and Steve and Laura Profaizer all of Rock Springs; great-grandchildren Jaynie and Coleman Welsh, Taylor Robbins, Brandon, Ryan and Hannah Bena, Sofia and Lyla Rose, Tristan and Lauren Profaizer; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anna, sister Loretta Fanning, and son-in-law Bill Welsh. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. A viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery, Rock Springs. The family will be receiving guests at the home of Beverly Profaizer, 2900 Driftwood Lane, Rock Springs. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mission at Castle Rock Rehabilitation Center, 1445 Uinta Dr., Green River, WY 82935.
