Elza Eversol

Rock Springs- Elza LeRoy Eversole , 92, died Tuesday November 14, 2006 at the Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs after a short illness. Elza was born in Baggs, Wyoming on February 9, 1914, the son of Ira Carbon and Stella Ladd Eversole. Elza attended schools in Baggs, Wyoming, Hardin, Montana and Rock Springs. He left school at age 14 to help support his family. He first worked for Jack Corson and later for Blair & Hay Sheep Co. and Bar X Sheep Co. for nearly 40 years. He married Lois Maud VanZandt in Green River Wyoming on November 29, 1937. They spent 69 years together in the livestock industry. They lived in Bitter Creek, Pacific Springs, Little Sandy & Rock Springs. In 1950, he purchased the ranch south of Bitter Creek from his uncle Roy Eversole. Elza retired from active ranching in 1980, but the life style remained his major interest until his death. He was a member of Rock Springs Elks BPOE 24, Wyoming Stock Growers, the Wyoming Farm Bureau and long time member of the local Chariot Racing Club. He also was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His interests were his family, horses, ranching, his sheep dogs and was an avid chariot racer. When he was younger he participated in numerous local rodeos in the Saddle Bronc competitions winning many awards. Survivors include his wife Lois Eversole, of Rock Springs; one son John Eversole and wife Debbie of Bitter Creek; one daughter, Jeanne Eversole of Rock Springs; one sister-in-law, Martha Eversole of Lander; three grandchildren, Jesse Berry and husband Levi of Texhoma, Oklahoma, Wes Eversole and wife Alexis of Portland, Oregon, and Carly Eversole of Rock Springs; four great-granddaughters, Daisy May, Emily Anne and Etta Jane all of Texhoma, Oklahoma, and Olive Rose of Portland; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Francis and Milford, one sister-in-law Alicia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Rock Springs.
