Esther Elzina Lees Williams
Rock Springs - Esther Elzina Lees Williams, 96, of Rock Springs died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.
She was born March 2, 1920 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, east of Oakland, the third child of five children of and Joseph Blaine Lees and Flossie Elzina Inman Lees. She grew up on farms until the late 30's. She attended schools in Carson, Griswold and Oakland.
After finishing her education, she went to work at the telephone company as an operator for several years. After World War II started, she left Oakland and went to work in a defense plant in Council Bluff, Iowa. While there she met her husband to be, Howard Lee. He was in the Army stationed in Omaha, Nebraska. He left in 1943 for overseas duty and returned in March of 1946. They were married April 6, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to Wyoming in 1949, living there most of their married lives. They lived the last 40 years in Reliance. Howard preceded her in death December 12, 1992.
Esther was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she taught Primary and served many other positions. She enjoyed going to church every Sunday whenever she could. She was a member of Young at Heart Senior Center and also the Green River Golden Hour Senior Center, and AARP.
He interest were her friends, her family, her animals, working in her yard and flower garden, camping, fishing, cooking and baking, and crocheting afghans.
Survivors include her sister Phyllis Lees Laher; sister-in-laws Corrine Lees; Charles Lees and wife Joann; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard Lee, brothers Gordon and John Lees, brother-in-lawVictor Laher, infant sister Alice Lees, and very special friend Dick Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. A viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Rock Springs.
