ROCK SPRINGS -- Eunice Carolyn Savage, 91, of Rock Springs died Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Sage View Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Greenland, Michigan, the daughter of Jalmer Eilola and Marie Kempainen Eilola. She attended schools in Michigan. Her parents died when she was 15, and she dropped out of school to help care for her siblings. She returned to high school at the age of 52 and graduated from Hancock High School with her son's Class of 1978.
She married Ron Savage on April 21, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio. He preceded her in death in December 1983.
She owned and operated TEC Diner in Southrange, Michigan.
She moved to Wyoming in 2007 to be near her son and daughter-in-law.
She was a member of Ferndale Christian Church in Ferndale, Michigan. She enjoyed swimming, hiking, puzzles, big band music, Elvis Presley and her family.
Survivors include her son Tim Savage and wife, Dorothy, of Rock Springs; daughter Carolyn of Plymouth, Michigan; sister Shirley Jones of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren Michael Koskela, Robyn Loveridge and Jessica Savage; great-grandchildren, Reganne and Austin Koskela, Luke and Layla Loveridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jalmer and Marie Eilola; and brother Matt Eilola.
Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory. A celebration of her life will take place at 2 p.m. Aug. 10, 2016, at Sage View Care Center, 1325 Sage St., Rock Springs.
