George Doak

Rock Springs – George Doak, 82, of Rock Springs died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Evanston Regional Hospital in Evanston, Wyoming after a sudden illness. George was born October 22, 1923 in Rock Springs, Wyoming the son of John David and Mary Harris Doak. He attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1941. He was a US Navy veteran during WWII having serving in the Pacific and Japan. He played baseball for the US Navy. On April 27, 1947 he married Kathyrn Marie Nicksich in Rock Springs. He had been employed at Reliance and Winton Mines. He worked as an electrician for Trekell Electric untill his retirement. He was a member of the Catholic Church. His interests included baseball, bowling, hunting, fishing, camping, and golfing. He played baseball and basketball and coached little league baseball for several years. Survivors include his wife, Kathyrn Doak of Rock Springs; sister, Beverly Mae Doak of Texas City, Texas; brother-in-law, George Nicksich of Rock Springs; sister-in-laws, Rose Doak of Rock Springs, and Ann Ferraro of Arvada, Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Doak, son David G Doak who died Jan 23, 1986, and three brothers, James Harry Doak, Lester George Doak, Jack David Doak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2006 at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., Rock Springs. Rev. Killian Muli will officiate. A holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. Internment with Military honors by the American Legion Archie Hay Post 24 will take place in Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John D. Doak, Jon “K.C.” Doak, Chris Doak, Mike Doak, Robert Doak, and Donald Ferraro. Honorary pallbearers are Veronica Doak Johnson, Becky Doak Tugman, Toni Doak Van Valkenburg, Richard Ferraro, and Jimmy Stanton. Family will be receiving friends at the home of John and Sharry Doak, 1656 Walnut, Rock Springs.
