Helen Mae Mattinson
Rock Springs - Helen Mae Mattinson, 95, died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. She was a lifelong resident of Superior and Rock Springs.
She was born July 17, 1917 in Superior, the daughter of Marco Knezovich and Francis Tomjlanovich Knezovich. She attended schools in Superior and graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1937.
She married Ralph B. Mattinson June 17, 1939 in Rawlins, Wyoming. He preceded her in death February 21, 1970. She worked as a lunch lady at Yellowstone School for many years, retiring in 1980. Other jobs include cleaning the depots in Superior and Bitter Creek for UPRR, and working at the Silovich Laundry.
She was a member of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary for many years and also S.N.P.J. Lodge. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her interests were spending time with her family, staying at the family cabin, playing pinochle with her friends, yard work, crocheting and plastic canvas.
Survivors include her sons Ralph C. Mattinson, Donald “Doc” Mattinson and wife Donna all of Rock Springs, and Gerald Mattinson and wife Carey of Laramie; daughters, Sharon White and husband Kim of Riverton, Ella Larson and husband Maurice of Rock Springs; daughter-in-law Judy Mattinson of Rock Springs; sister-in-law Olga Knezovich of Rock Springs; 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph Mattinson, son Dennis Mattinson, brothers Marion Knezovich and wife Mary, Pete Knezovich and wife Lola, and Tony Knezovich, sisters Ann Knezovich who died in infancy, Mary Nosich and husband John, Josephine Morris and husband Elmer, and Annie Moyer and husband Russell, grandsons Bryan and Brent Mattinson (twins) and great-grandson Britt Mattinson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs.
Friends may call 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2012 and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, North Rock Springs.
