Jacquline Merchant
Green River - Jacquline Merchant, 86, of Green River, passed away January 8, 2014 of
natural causes. Jackie,as she was known, was born September 27, 1927 in Burntfork, Wyoming to Fred and Emily Stoll, descendants of pioneers who in the 1860s settled in what would later become Wyoming.
Jackie graduated from Green River High School in 1945. On February 2, 1947, she married the late Robert Merchant and together they lived in Green River raising their three children Tim, De, and Pat. Jackie worked as a telephone operator during the 1960s and then worked for School District #2 until she retired in 1988. She enjoyed reading, golfing, and traveling with her husband, and especially liked her trips to the Hawaiian Islands.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and was able to overcome adversity with a smile. She carried forward her legacy of story telling and will be remembered as a kind and gentle mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Jackie is survived by her three children: Tim and Marlene Merchant, De and Richard Wright, and Pat and Terrlyn Merchant, and one sister Elsie Lee all of Green River. She also shared her life with 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert; mother and father; three sisters; and one brother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Green River LDS Stake Center, 120 Shoshone, Green River, where friends may call 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services on Tuesday.
Cremation will follow at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.
