James "Ed" Dunkin

James "Ed" Dunkin Rock Springs- James "Ed" Dunkin, 63, of Rock Springs, died Monday, February 23, 2009, at the Veteran’s Hospital in Salt Lake City after a short illness. He was born July 8, 1945 in Mescalero, New Mexico, the son of Clarence Lester and Alice Lucille Darnold Dunkin. He graduated from Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a veteran having served in the US Army. Ed married Avis Elaine Brown on June 6, 1969 in Albuquerque. He had been employed by Black Butte Coal, owned and operated Custom 4-Wheel Drive, and most recently worked for Whisler in Rock Springs for the past 7 years. His interest included fishing, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Avis Dunkin of Rock Springs; son, Justin Dunkin of Denver, Colorado; brothers, Lester Dunkin, Chet Dunkin and wife Betty, all of Albuquerque New Mexico; sister, Melba Ford of Albuquerque; granddaughter Rylee Rosemary Dunkin of Rock Springs; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Craig Dunkin. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, 1515 Edgar St., Rock Springs.
