Jan Maestas

Jan Maestas Rock Springs - Jan Maestas, 48, a lifelong resident of Rock Springs, died Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after a lengthy illness. She was born May 9, 1965 in Rock Springs, the daughter of Charles Weimer Sr. and Joan Aldrich Weimer. She attended schools in Rock Springs and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1983. She married Marshal Maestas on October 3, 1997 in Evanston, Wyoming. She received her CNA certification and worked as a CNA for several years. She also drove for Star Bus for 3 years and most recently she driving school bus for School District #1 for the last 15 years. She was a Candy Striper at the hospital during her teens and was also a cook for the hunting camp. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Rock Springs where she served as president of the Women’s Ministry. Her interests were hunting, camping, fishing, her dogs, singing, taking kids to camp, going to Sheep Creek Canyon, and sitting and talking over coffee. Survivors include her husband Marshal Maestas of Rock Springs; son Cruz Maestas of Rock Springs; stepdaughters Brenda Cummings and husband Matt of Green River, Brigette Fishburn and husband Bruce of Berthoud, Colorado, and Belinda Kitchen and husband Travis of Estes Park, Colorado; brothers Chuck Weimer Jr. and companion Jodie Harper of Rock Springs, Ken Weimer and wife Brenda of Powell, Wyoming; sister Tammy Kloefkorn and husband Roger of Rock Springs; nieces and nephews, Randy and companion Nicole, Scott, Katie and companion Shalamar, Brett and wife Sarah, Stephanie, Sarah, Amanda, Crystal and Chancey. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Joan Weimer, grandparents, and aunt Marilou Moore Weimer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the First Assembly of God, 2191 Century Blvd., Rock Springs. There will be a viewing 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs and Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will take place in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery, Rock Springs.
