JEANETTE L (BAILEY) MATLOCK
BORN AUG 26, 1930 IN HIGHLAND PARK MI. TO FLETCHER AND LILLIAN BAILEY, JEANETTE SPENT 10 YRS IN MI. UNTIL HER FATHER DIED. HER MOTHER LATER MARRIED IVAN SHULTS, A BABTIST MINISTER, AND THEY MOVED TO ILIFF CO. WHERE HE LED A CHURCH FOR 2 YEARS. THEY THEN MOVED TO STERLING CO. WHERE JEANETTE WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL FOR 2 YEARS AND THEN ELOPED WITH HER BOYFRIEND DON MATLOCK. THEY WERE HAPPILY MARRIED FOR 55 YEARS WHEN DON DIED IN 2000. THEY HAD 3 CHILDREN: DIANA, DON, AND JOHN. JOHN DIED IN 1963 OF LEUKEMIA.
DON AND JEANETTE MOVED TO RAWLINS WY. WHERE THEY LIVED FOR 14 YEARS. JEANETTE WAS VERY ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY AND COACHED A PEE WEE BASEBALL TEAM FOR THE FERRIS HOTEL AND LATER A LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM. SHE LED CUB SCOUT DENS AND CAMPFIRE GIRLS. SHE ALSO WORKED AT VARIOUS RESTAURANTS IN RAWLINS.
IN 1966, THEY MOVED TO ROCKSPRINGS WY. WHERE DON WAS TRANSFERRED WITH HIS JOB AT PACIFIC POWER & LIGHT. JEANETTE DELIVERED WONDER BREAD FOR 13 YRS AND WORKED FOR SCHOOL DIST # 1 FOR 20 YRS. SHE RETIRED IN 1992. JEANETTE WAS A FOUNDER FOR EASY BREATHERS SUPPORT GROUP, A VOLUNTEER FOR MEALS ON WHEELS AND WAS THE STATE HISTORIAN FOR THE GOOD SAM CLUB FOR MANY YEARS. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE EAGLES AND THE LEGION AUXILLIARY, YOUNG-AT-HEART SENIOR CENTER AND ROYAL NEIGHBORS. SHE SERVED AS VICE PRESIDENT OF THE LEGION AUXILLIARY FOR 2 YEARS. SHE ATTENDED EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER CHILDREN DIANA AND HUSBAND DEAN DOTY OF CALIFORNIA, DON AND WIFE DOROTHY MATLOCK 0F ROCK SPRINGS; HER SISTERS BARBARA AND HUSBAND DON FLING OF DENVER, EVELYN AND HUSBAND DON HUFFMAN OF STERLING CO.; HER BROTHER MONTE SHULTS; GRAND CHILDREN MIKE AND WIFE HOLLY NEUFER OF WORLAND, TODD NEUFER OF ROCK SPRINGS, RICHARD MATLOCK OF ROCKSPRINGS, GARY DOTY OF CALIFORNIA. SHE IS SURVIVED BY 13 GREAT GRAND CHILDREN AND MANY NIECES AND NEPHEWS WHICH SHE ENJOYED VERY MUCH. HER EXTENDED FAMILY IS JOHN DUNN, WIFE KAREN AND DAUGHTER MELISSA OF DENVER; BILL OLSEN AND WIFE KATHY OF ROCK SPRINGS; LOVEE INGRAM OF DENVER; LLOYD HARSHA AND KATY; AND RHONDA OLSEN AND SON BILLY OF ROCK SPRINGS.
SHE FOUGHT A GOOD BATTLE WITH PULMONARY HYPERTENSION AND COPD FOR 21 YEARS. HER INIMITABLE SPIRIT AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE MADE HER AN INSPIRATION TO ALL WHO KNEW HER.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 AM SATURDAY, MARCH 3, 2012 AT FOX FUNERAL HOME, 2800 COMMERCIAL WAY, ROCK SPRINGS. FRIENDS MAY CALL 6 UNTIL 8 PM FRIDAY MARCH 2, 2012 AND SATURDAY ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICES AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
INTERMENT WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE REST HAVEN MEMORIAL GARDENS, NORTH ROCK SPRINGS.
