Jimmy Joe Maestas Rock Springs - Jimmy Joe Maestas, 57, of Rock Springs, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after a short illness. He was born November 15,1956 in Rawlins, Wyoming, the son of Joe Lujan and Lois Ray Schmidt. He received his GED at the Western Wyoming Adult Learning Center on March 30,1995. His interests were reading and working out. Survivors include his mother Lois Schmidt of Cheyenne; father Joe Lujan of Rawlins; daughter Julie Jones of Cheyenne; brothers Dan R. Schmidt and wife Beth of David City, Nebraska, Sammy J. Schmidt of Cheyenne, Jack J. Schmidt of Cheyenne; sisters Merry L. Schmidt of Cheyenne, and Tammy L. Schmidt of Cheyenne; his girlfriend Taunya Sloat of Rock Springs who cared for him through his last three weeks of his life; grandchildren, Robert, Loren, Cody, Makayla, and Amanda; great-grandchildren Billie, Shayleen, and Kaylynn; 3 aunts; several cousins nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Sandra S. Schmidt. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Memorial services are pending and will take place in Cheyenne.
