Joanne George

Joanne George St. George - Joanne George passed away January 9, 2009 in Washington, Utah. She was born July 7, 1926 to Jerry and Ethyl McMullin George in Santa Monica, California. She attended grammar school in Leeds, Utah, high school in Barstow California and College at Redlands in California. She married Fredrick W. Trude September, 1951. She was widowed December 27, 1969, leaving her with six children ages 17 - 6. They are Candace (Kate) Trude (who preceded her in death on January 6, 2009, Pam (Dave) Thurston, Jonathon (Sommer) Trude, Bill , Jerry (Yvonne) and Tina (Shad). She leaves sixteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mother loved learning. She earned her Bachelors degree in Art at California State University at Long Beach, and her Masters degree at Brigham Young University. She was a prolific reader and a life-long learner. Before her marriage, she served the state of California as a policewoman for Los Angles Police Department. Later, she used her Art degree by teaching art to Junior High and High School students in California, Nevada and Utah. In her later years, she transformed her pioneer home in Leeds to her cherished art gallery, "Gallery Ten." Her door was open to everyone. Mother loved humanity: her many friends, her vast family and her cherished animals, especially her beloved cockatoo Samantha, her bulldog Pugsley, and her noble and loyal shepherd, Sadie. Her pioneer home in Leeds was constantly being recreated and decorated: it's gardens were wild and beautiful. She faced her illness with courage, maintaining a kind and positive nature until the end. She will be so missed. Thanks to Zion's Way Hospice and their many hours of tending to her and keeping her laughing and comfortable. You were a miracle. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St, St. George, under the direction of Fox Funeral Home, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
