John F. “Mickey” Barker Green River - John F. “Mickey” Barker, 67, of Green River died Tuesday August 25, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, Rock Springs. He was born January 29, 1942 in Evanston, Wyoming, the son of John H. and Melba E. Hayward Barker. He grew up in Evanston, Coalville, Utah, and Green River. He graduated from Green River High School with the class of 1960. He married Barbara Stoll September 2, 1962. Together they raised three children. John had been employed as a meat cutter for Miller Meat Packing in Logan, Utah, Faler’s in Pinedale, and Del’s Market in Green River. Later he worked for OCI until his retirement in 2004. His interests were fishing, shooting his many guns, collecting many things, and spending time with his family and many friends. Survivors include his three children, Jim Barker and Cori Griffith of Eden, Wendy and Bill Blaisdell of Rock Springs, and Jennifer Barker and Burt Beamer of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters Sharlene Kaml and Myron, Shery Bryant and Wil, and Barbara Wize; father-in-law, Willard Youtz; grandchildren, Samantha and Steven Heward, Tabatha Blaisdell and Aldo Valdez, Courtney Barker and Nick Strampe, Patrick Blaisdell, Robert Allen, Daniel Blaisdell, Shawn Allen and Cortland Barker; great-grandchildren, Maddix Valdez and Robert Heward and two on the way; many sisters, brother-in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara of 46 years, his parents, John and Melba, two brother-in-laws, Doug Stoll and Milton “Doc” Dockter, two grandchildren, Amanda Jo Barker and John Terry “JT” Blaisdell, and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009 and one hour prior to the services. Interment will take place in the Riverview Cemetery, Green River.
