John Miller

d. March 19, 2011

John Charles Miller Rock Springs - John Charles Miller, 52, of 117 East Owens St., Lyman, Wyoming died Saturday March 19, 2011 at his home after an illness since 2007. He was a resident of Rock Springs since 1980 and moved to Lyman a few years ago. He was born May 6, 1958 in Sonora, California, the son of John Carlton Miller and Mary Elda Leoni Miller. He attended schools in California and Utah. He married Penney Jo Moore in Naturita, Colorado on March 17, 1979. He had been employed by Solvay Minerals in Green River. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was longtime member and supported of the National Rifle Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, St. Jude’s Foundation, United Way and Paralyzed Veteran’s of America. John’s number one priority in life was his family and their well being. If all was well on the homefront, then life was in order, never giving himself a thought. Although the past few years John kept himself out of the public eye, his love for all of his family and dear friends was always near and most present in his heart. He truly loved you all. John was larger than life. He had an amazing presence. He was always there for those whether you needed a hand up or one of those strong and unfailing shoulders to cry on. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. He was always happiest when pursuing any of the many outdoor activities he so loved; hunting, fishing, camping, just riding along on the 4-wheelters, snowmobiling, his horse, the mountains, all on nature in its splendor and glory. And lets all remember all the hunting stories and memories we can share and laugh about for many years to come. He was a good father and loved his daughters more than life, so a warm and loving thank you goes out to them for all their patience, support and strength throughout the past few years. His granddaughter Kaitlynn kept him in such positive spirits. She helped in lighting up his world with just a smile. Survivors include his wife Penney Jo of Lyman; daughters, Faith Jo Bowker and husband Ed and April Marie Miller all of Rock Springs; brother Jerry Miller and wife Wendy of Green River; brothers-in-law Samuel Moore and wife Kyong of Colorado Springs, Rufus Moore and wife of Delta, Utah; sisters-in-law Pamela Zaharko and husband Larry of Melstone, Montana, Phyllis Lang and husband Fred of New Jersey, Caroline VanAusdle of Arizona, and Catherine Adams of Rock Springs; granddaughter Kaitlynn Ann Marie Bowker; nieces Samantha, Jill, Jeralee, Jenae and Tasyn; nephews Gage, Kyer, Bracken and Tayen; numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs.
