Rock Springs - Joseph Walton Ransom, 85, died August 2, 2004 at his home in Rock Springs after a sudden illness. He was born December 27, 1918 in Garland, Utah, the son of Milo Ames and Mary Walton Ransom. He married Doris Corbridge on April 4, 1946 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2001.
Joe served in the US Army during WWII. He owned and operated Joe’s Trim Shop in Rock Springs for many years. He was a member of the Rock Springs Kiwanis and Young at Heart Senior Center.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
His interests were dancing, golfing, camping, hunting, fishing, traveling, and his family.
Survivors include one son, Douglas Joseph Ransom and wife Melinda of Rock Springs; two daughters, Veda Kershisnik and husband Gerald, and Becky Roberts and husband Dave all of Rock Springs; one brother, Odell Ransom and wife Irene of Kearns, Utah; one sister, Betty Adams of Bountiful, Utah; six grandchildren, Michael and Kauleen Kershisnik, Chris Ransom, Brooke Shassetz and husband Mark, Krystle and Joey Roberts; three great grandchildren, Shelby and Bailee Ransom, and Kennedy Shassetz; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Doris, two brothers, Don and Earl, and one sister, LaRene Conlin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2004 at the White Mountain LDS Ward Chapel, 3306 White Mountain Blvd., Rock Springs.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.
The family will also be receiving friends 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at 202 Bluebonnet Circle in Rock Springs. Interment will take place in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
