Josephine Sikich

October 23, 1933 — August 24, 2008

ROCK SPRINGS - Josephine Virginia Sikich, of 1305 11th Street Rock Springs, WY passed away Sunday evening August 24,2008 at her home after a lengthy struggle with cancer. Josephine also know as "Granny" or Jo to many was born in Dilner, P A on October 23rd, 1933, the only child to Warren B and Josephine V (Holbert) Brewer. At the young and adventurous age of 23, Josephine boarded a plane and came to Rock Springs, WY. Upon arrival in Rock Springs she met Louis "Sonny" Sikich, and after a short courtship they were married on August 3, 1956, in Evanston, Wyoming. They spent the next 52 years together raising their three children, camping, hunting and enjoying the outdoors. Josephine stayed at home raising her children until they all were in school, at which time she went to work for the RS School District the year the Food Service program began. She spent 23 years between the RS High School and White Mtn. Junior High School Lunch programs, then retired and spent many years camping with her husband and family. Survivors include her husband Louis "Sonny" Sikich, one son, Warren Sikich and wife Jolene of Rock Springs, two daughters, Joy Erramouspe and husband John Pierre of Farson, and Tammy Roysdon and husband Arthur of Phoenix. Six grandchildren and Five Great-grandchildren. Justin Soltis, wife Brittany and great-granddaughter Payten of Rocks Springs, Wesley Sikich, wife Eryn and great-grandson Ryland of San Diego Ca., Stephanie Sweets, husband Marcelle and great-granddaughters Kodee and Cielee of Rock Springs, Jessica Sikich and Darren Koons of Pinedale, Chelsea Cornell and husband Tom of Evans Mills, NY, Sondra Young and husband Rico and great granddaughter Hailee of Cheyenne, WY. and her cat Hobie . She was preceded in death by both her parents. A private family service will be held at her resting place at a later date.
