Josephine Sturholm
Jackson - Josephine "Jo" Sturholm, 95, of Jackson died Monday, February 28, 2011 at her home in Jackson.
She was a resident of Rock Springs for 67 years and moved to Jackson in 2003 to be near her daughter Kay.
She was born July 27, 1915 in Rock Springs, the daughter of Charles A. Viox and Mary Francis Moriarty Viox. She attended schools in Green River and graduated from Green River High School with the class of 1933.
She worked as Sweetwater County Deputy Treasurer from 1933 to 1937.
She married George Sturholm on August 19, 1938 in Rock Springs. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1981.
Mrs. Sturholm was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jackson and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Rock Springs.
Her interests were gardening, holiday decorating, scrap booking, and collecting German beer mugs and angels.
Survivors include her daughter Kay Mattheis and husband Gary of Jackson;
sisters Mary Kay Schwope of Wheatland and Rosalie Neville and husband Bob of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Mike, Steve and wife Janie & Scot Mattheis all of Jackson; great-granddaughter Vivienne Mattheis of Jackson; several cousins, 8 nieces and 9 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband George, daughter Sue Sturholm, sister Helen Moerke, and brother Charles Viox Jr.
Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, A Street & Broadway, Rock Springs. Father Flo Marcel and Rev. Bill Hill, both of Jackson will be officiating.
Graveside service with inurnment will follow at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
