Colleen June West Green River – Colleen June West, 64, of Green River died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at LDS Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah after a battle with cancer. Colleen was born March 10, 1941 in Rock Springs, Wyoming the daughter of Hayden Wells Church and Dorothy Twitchell Church Holbrook. She was raised by her mother and grandmother, Jennie Twitchell and later her stepfather, Henry Holbrook. She graduated from the old Lincoln High School in Green River with the class of 1959. She married Orson Allen West on July 23, 1958 in the LDS Logan Temple. Colleen was a full-time homemaker and mother. In 1973 she went to work part-time and later full-time at Wyoming Land Title Company. She was a title clerk and abstractor for nineteen years until her retirement on May 29, 1992. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. She held the posistions of Junior Sunday School Coordinator, Ward and Stake Primary President, Primary Teacher, Primary Secretary, Young Women Teacher, Ward and Stake Relief Society President, Compassionate Service Leader and Visiting Teacher. She served a three year Bishop’s Storehouse work mission with her husband in Green River. Her interests included her family, boating, camping, gardening, working in the yard, reading, working on vehicles, cooking, collecting dolls, keeping a clean and organized home, family photos and videos, her special dog Ginger, watching Green River High School football, being a mentor, and listening to music. Survivors include her husband, Allen West of Green River; step-father Henry Holbrook of Green River; one daughter Kelly June Hughes and husband Bryan of Green River; three grandchildren, Jamie Cudney and husband Bobby, Stephanie Hughes, and Allen Michael Hughes all of Green River; three great grandchildren, Joshua Wayne Cudney, Allysa June Cudney, and Colter Jacob Cudney all of Green River; one aunt, Joy Twitchell of LaPoint, Utah; brother and sister-in-laws, Louise West of Golden, Colorado, Jay and Karen Dykes of Kemmerer, Wyoming, and David and Lynda West of Tremonton, Utah; eight nieces and nephews, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and biological father. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005 at the Green River LDS Stake Center, 120 Shoshone Avenue, where friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the services. Bishop Kevin Robertson officiating. Interment will take place at Riverview Cemetery. Fox Funeral Home, Rock Springs, funeral directors.
