Katherine L. Tanner
Green River - Katherine L. Tanner, 84, of Green River, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, Rock Springs after a short illness.
She was born March 4, 1923 in Devil’s Slide, Utah, the daughter of Zeldon Lee and Katie Marie Lowe Lee. Katherine grew up on Yellowcreek Ranch, south of Evanston, and attended schools in Evanston.
She married William S. Tanner in Evanston on May 18, 1944. They resided on Railroad section at Carter and Church Buttes WY, where she cooked for section hands. They lived in Verne and Granger, WY, then after her retirement she moved to Green River to be closer to her daughters.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her interests included crocheting, telling stories of her youth, and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters; Doris DuPont and husband Tim, and Marie Cudney and husband Bill, all of Green River; two brothers, Henry Lee and wife Karen of Lyman, and Jack Lee and wife Shirley of Granger; six sisters, Veda Goodrick and companion Bill Underwood of Robertson, Beverly Boan and husband Joe of Lyman, June Blunk of Green River, Shirley Smith and husband Bert of Green River, Barbara Pilkington and husband Rex of Green River, Susie Frazier and husband Chuck of Green River; eight grandchildren, Troy Stout of Apache Junction, AZ, Dirk Stout of Mesa, AZ, Lisa Martin, JoDee Cudney, and Bill Cudney, all of Green River, Tim DuPont and wife Laura of Fairbanks, AK, Monique DuPont of North Glenn, CO, and Nicole Zuniga and husband Mario of Costa Rica; fourteen great -grandchildren, Janika, Kylie, and Chad Martin, Kenny, Clay, and Wyatt Cudney, Alex and Bailey Stout, Kaylie and Craig Hibbs, Wyatt, Morgan, and Cecelia DuPont, and Francesca Zuniga.
She was proceeded in death by her husband William Tanner, daughter Kathy Tanner, three brothers, Orin, Zeldon (Johnny) and Edison Lee, two sisters, Amelia Blasi, and Zella Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel, 127 Main St., Lyman, Wyoming. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the chapel on Monday. Interment will take place in the Lyman Cemetery, Lyman.
