KATHLEEN NELSON HIGGINS Coalville, UT - Kathleen Nelson Higgins beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Coalville Utah on December 29, 2008. Kathy was born May 11, 1954 to Dr. Milton and Mary Nelson in Logan Utah. She grew up in Blackfoot Idaho where she excelled in music, skiing and student government. Following her graduation from Blackfoot High School, Kathy attended Ricks College earning an AA degree. She went on to Brigham Young University where she earned a Bachelors Degree with Honors in Political Science. Kathy married Ted Higgins on July 30, 1976 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They have 2 children, Jessica Geddes, her husband Jeff and children Chloe and Floyd, of Park City, Utah and Allison Moon her husband Adam and there children Grace and Max of West Valley City, Utah. After 2 years of marriage Kathy’s family moved to Wyoming and has lived in Rock Spring for the past 25 years. Kathy’s life has been full of service to her family her friends, and anyone else she met. She worked at Western Wyoming College as a Career Counselor, Grant Writer and Program Director. She was known for her positive attitude, hard work and willingness to help anyone. Kathy loved to travel especially with her family; she was always looking to experience new places and people. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and friends at their cabin in Alpine Wyoming. Kathy was an active member of the LDS Church serving in many calling including Relief Society President and for the past 7 years served with her husband at the Rock Springs College Branch. Kathy fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Her family will be forever grateful to Dr Teresa Wariner, Nurse Stephanie Novak and the compassionate staff of the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City. The family wishes to encourage everyone to be generous in there contributions to HCH as they continue their life saving work. Kathy is survived by her sisters Kris Inskeep and JoAnn Tominaga and brothers Scott Nelson, Eric Nelson, and David Nelson, along with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the White Mountain LDS Chapel, 3315 White Mountain Blvd., Rock Springs. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs and 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to the services at the church. Interment will take place at the Coalville Cemetery, Coalville, Utah.
