Laurence “Larry” Hilkey Rock Springs - Laurence “Larry” Hilkey, 71 of Rock Springs died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after a sudden illness. He was born February 25, 1942 in Steamboat, Colorado, the son of Richard Hilkey and Edith Mills Hilkey. He attended schools in Meeker, Colorado and graduated from Meeker High School with the class of 1961. He married Carolynn Hullinger in 1963 in Vernal, Utah. She preceded him in death September 21, 1989. He married Sandra Kay Boulier November 23, 1990 in Rock Springs. He worked in oilfield operation and sales with CTS until his retirement in 2012. His interests were his family, camping, hunting, fishing, and playing pool. Survivors include his wife Sandra Hilkey of Rock Springs; sons Travis Hilkey and wife Dawn of Syracuse, Utah, Rod Hilkey and wife Kelli of Brighton, Colorado, and Ryan Hilkey and wife Alexis of West Valley City, Utah; stepsons Lesley McPherson and wife Theresa of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Kenny McPherson and wife Misty of West Jordan, Utah; daughter Stormie Hopkins of Westminster, Colorado; stepdaughters Carrie McGrath and husband Rich, Markla Chivers and husband Kirk all of Rock Springs, and Kristina Cobbs of West Jordan; brothers Don Hilkey and wife Rosemary and Ron Hilkey and wife Donna all of Meeker, Colorado;28 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and one brother Gordon Hilkey. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday, January 10, 2014 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Private family viewing will be held 4-6 pm Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.
