Leola Lewis Rock Springs - The Reverend Mrs. Leola Lewis, 65, died Saturday, August 08, 2009 at her residence in Reliance following a lengthy illness. She was born October 9, 1943 in Hanna, Wyoming the daughter of John R. Hamilton and Florence Hill Hamilton. She attended schools in Quealy, Wyoming, and graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1962. She attended seminary at International Gospel Assembly and was ordained October 9, 1988 and again in 2003 by Jerry Savelle. She married Forrest “John” Lewis on July 29, 1966 in Green River. She lived in Quealy for 16 years and then moved to Reliance where she resided until her death. She started “The Bread of Life Ministries” and served there from July 1988 until ill health forced her to resign in 1994. She started a food bank in Rock Springs and took care of the hungry and homeless. She went on a preaching mission to Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and 16 different islands in the Mindinow group in the Philippines. She was a member of the Rock Springs Worship Center; Pastor Arlen Hughes. Survivors include her husband, Forrest “John” Lewis of Reliance; sons John D. Lewis, John R. Lewis and wife Lisa, and all of Rock Springs, Brian Lewis and wife Michelle of Farson; daughters, Toni Hautala and husband Rob of Rock Springs, Michelle Dubie of Riverton; half-brothers, Laveral Beach and Bruce Beach Hamilton; grandchildren, Christy, Jon Jon, Cim, Kelie, Britanie, and Zach Lewis all of Rock Springs, Kolten and Skye Lewis of Farson, Tyler Hautala of Austin, Texas, Sarah Runkel and husband David of Logan, Utah, Nathan Hautala of Logan, Kathy Hallock of Casper, Jenny Clark of Casper, and Amber Hardcastle of Riverton. She is also survived by two Christian sisters who helped in her illnesses, Lois Cantrel, and Ethel Nauman. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, one son, Jimmy Lewis, one grandson, Andy Dubie, and daughter-in-law, Vickie Lewis. Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Rock Springs Worship Center 545 North Front Street. Pastor Arlen Hughes will officiate.
