Leonard Crouch

Green River - Leonard Crouch, 83, of Green River died Monday, January 24, 2011 at his residence in Green River after a lengthy illness. He was born December 31, 1927 in Rock Springs, the son of Hugh and Elizabeth Bean Crouch. He attended schools in Green River and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1946. He married Carol D. Taylor on July 23, 1966 in Green River. He retired from FMC after 20 years of employment. Leonard was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Korea Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He received an honorable discharge in 1954. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and held position of quartermaster. His interests included fishing, working in yard, gardening, and crossword puzzles. Survivors include his wife Carol D. Crouch of Green River; son Leonard Dale Crouch of Moreno Valley, California; daughters, Lenore D. Wilson and Christine L. Merkerson both of Dallas, Texas, and Elizabeth L. Scott of Jonesboro, Georgia; brothers, LeRoy Crouch of Washington D.C., John Crouch of Rock Springs, Hugh Crouch of Green River, and Robert Crouch of South Dakota; sisters, Estell Crouch of Denver, Colorado and Sara Green of Green River; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Elizabeth Crouch and brother Arthur James Crouch. Friends and family may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the Union Congregational Church, 350 Mansface St., Green River. Cremation will follow at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Union Congregation Church, Green River. Inurnment with military honors will take place at the Riverview Cemetery, Green River. After the graveside service, the family invites all those in attendance to return to the church to visit and share in a luncheon provided.
