Lucy E. Garcia Green River - Lucy E. Garcia, 61, of Green River died Friday October 8, 2010 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. She was born February 18, 1949 in Lalama, New Mexico, the daughter of Melisendro and Emma Padilla Barela. She married Juan Garcia on November 13, 1965 in Greeley, Colorado. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2007. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Green River. She had been employed as a bartender in local area businesses. Her interests include being in the outdoors, crocheting, playing bingo and spending time with her family. Survivors include her mother, Emma Barela of Denver, Colorado; one son, Anthony J. Garcia and wife Fawn of Green River; one daughter, Brandi L. Garcia of Green River; brothers, Chris Barela of Denver, Joe Cruz of Indiana, and Ross Garza of Los Angeles, California; sister, Nikki Vermeulen of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Amira, Anton, and Victor all of Green River; special friend Marcos Chavez of Greeley, Colorado; nieces, Mindi Vermeulen, Nikki Click and Kasee Maddy; several aunts, uncles , cousins, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Melisendro Barela, and husband Juan Garcia. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. Rev. Tom Sheridan will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Green River. The family would like to thank all the neighbors and friends that supported Lucy during her illness, especially the Gardea family.
