Mary "Baba" Welsh

Mary “Baba” Welsh Rock Springs – Mary “Baba” Welsh, 88, of Rock Springs died Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after a short illness. Mary was born July 4, 1916 in Rock Springs the daughter of Rade and Matilda Krpan Skorup. She attended schools in Rock Springs. She married Henry “Pinkie” Welsh in 1934 in Manila, Utah. He preceded her in death. She was employed as a cook and manager at Grubs Drive Inn for forty-six years until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Croation Fraternal Union. Her interest included cooking for “everybody”, her family, and reminicing about old times with her many friends. Survivors include two sons, Bill Welsh and wife Jimmie of Green River, Dick Welsh of Rock Springs; one daughter, Connie Sains of Rock Springs; one sister, Eva Wolf , sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Morris both of Rock Springs; thirteen grandchildren, Shauna Thornhill of Pinedale, Rob, Rick, and Ron Sains of Rock Springs, Shellie Kinnear, Laurie McCully both of Rock Springs, Lisa Talbatt of Casper, Mike Welsh of Rock Springs, Karla Bena of Omaha, Nebraska, Janelle Rose of Laramie, Stacy Welsh, Eilzabeth Welsh and Van Welsh all of Rock Springs; 19 great-grandchildren; serveral nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry “Pinkie” Welsh; parents, Rade and Matilda Skorup; sisters, Mada, Anne, Manda, Kay, Rose, Helen, and Alice; brothers, Mike and Nick “Grub”; and son-in-law, Robert Sains. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005 at St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave, Rock Springs, where a Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2005. Friends may call 12-5pm Friday, April 15, 2005 at Fox Funeral Home, 2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs. Interment will take place at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stacey Welsh, Van Welsh, Mike Welsh, Rob Sains, Rick Sains, and Ron Sains.
